Our mother, Lynda believes strongly that creativity exists in everyone and in every profession. Her mother, Ellin Wener was an artist, her father, a successful lawyer. Ellin was an amazing portrait artist and sculptor. However talented, she was very critical of herself and her work. It was Ellen's self doubt that helped Lynda to discover that without courage, creativity was stifled.
Attending the Art Center of Design in California, Lynda found the book,“The Courage to Create” by Rollo May. Within the pages, she affirmed her theory that doubt and fear must be overcome to create, and thus the story was birthed. She began drawing the role models that she wished that children could have to help foster their own creativity. Lynda spent two years developing the positive characters: Creativity, Courage, Hope, Joy, Love, Honesty, Humor, as well as the negative characters: Fear, Anxiety, Jealousy, Gloom, Despair, Bigotry and Hatred - With the main character, Jackie, representing the children of the world. Script, music, and characters were created with the idea of creating an animated film. After six years of pounding the streets for production costs, worldwide distribution, and financial capital, she decided to put the dream away.
You will be seeing Ellin's paintings and the 1977 drawings and illustrations that are truly timeless and still relevant today. "Creativity is alive in three generations"
